| Brand | ABB |
| ABB Spare-Part Name | Gasket for tubular cable housing cover |
| Category | Sealing gasket (tubular section) — wrist tubular cable housing cover seal for the ABB IRB 1200 manipulator |
| Definition | A flat sealing gasket that is fitted between the tubular cable housing and its cover on the ABB IRB 1200, closing the cover joint on the channel that the manipulator cable harness runs through on its way from the upper arm into the wrist. |
| Function | Seals the joint at the tubular cable housing cover so that dust, water, wash-down liquid and process product cannot enter the tubular cable housing and reach the manipulator cable harness inside. Together with the other radial and variseal sealing rings of the tubular section it maintains the robot's protection class at that joint. |
| Robot Compatibility | ABB IRB 1200 — listed in the tubular spare-parts section. ABB states the spare-part numbers in the printed manual can be out of date and refers to the latest revision of the spare-parts product manual. |
| Protection Types Covered | ABB's IRB 1200 spare-parts list enters this gasket against robots with protection class IP67, protection type Foundry Plus, protection type Clean Room and food grade lubrication. The same article is not entered for the Standard (IP40) version of the robot, and ABB's repair procedure lists the equivalent check step separately for each of the protection types. |
| Hygienic Variant | ABB specifies 3HAC080701-001 for Hygienic robots and 3HAC056707-001 for non-Hygienic robots. The two article numbers are not interchangeable — the correct one depends on the robot's protection type. |
| Maintenance Instruction | ABB's instruction for this position is "Check the tubular cable housing cover gasket. Replace if damaged." It is a replace-on-damage sealing item rather than a wear-interval item. |
| Where Fitted | On the tubular cable housing cover of the IRB 1200, in the wrist/upper-arm tubular assembly — removed and refitted during ABB's repair procedure "Replacing the tubular spare parts". |
| Other Gaskets in the Same Section | ABB's tubular spare-parts list also carries a gasket for the tubular cover — 3HAC058822-001 for non-Hygienic robots and 3HAC080709-001 for Hygienic robots — plus a radial sealing and an M2 variseal sealing. All are marked replace if damaged and are reached in the same repair procedure. |
| Cover Sealed by This Gasket | Tubular cable housing cover — ABB lists 3HAC059694-001 for the standard, Foundry Plus and IP67 versions, and a separate Clean Room / food grade lubrication article. |

The tubular cable housing is the channel that carries the manipulator cable harness from the upper arm into the wrist. Reaching the wrist on a compact robot means the harness has to pass a joint that moves constantly, so ABB builds that passage as a set of replaceable tubular parts — a tubular with sleeve, a tubular cover, a tubular cable housing, and a cover that closes the housing. Every one of those interfaces is a potential entry point for whatever the robot works in. The gasket sits in the joint between the tubular cable housing and its cover, and its job is simple and non-negotiable: if it fails, the protection class of the whole wrist is only as good as that joint, and the first thing downstream of it is the cable harness — usually the most expensive part in the assembly.
What turns this into a specific ABB article number rather than a commodity O-ring is that ABB builds the IRB 1200 in several protection variants — Standard (IP40), IP67, Foundry Plus, Clean Room, food grade lubrication, and Hygienic — and the sealing parts are not the same across them. In the ABB spare-parts list this gasket is entered for IP67, Foundry Plus, Clean Room and food grade lubrication and is absent from the Standard (IP40) column, which is the list's way of saying the joint is only sealed on the higher-specification machines. On top of that, ABB gives two separate numbers for the same cover joint: 3HAC056707-001 for non-Hygienic robots and 3HAC080701-001 for Hygienic robots. The part number is therefore decided by the robot's protection type, not by the robot model name — and because a gasket is a low-cost item protecting a high-cost harness, ABB specifies it as a replace-if-damaged consumable rather than something to be reused.
ABB does not publish an alarm code for a failed gasket — ingress damage normally shows up later as a harness or axis-related fault. Please contact us with the fault code displayed on your controller for accurate diagnosis.
