The two families solve different tasks. An AC drive — the Yaskawa J1000, A1000, G5 (VS-616G5) or Varispeed V7 (VS-606V7) series — varies motor speed for fans, pumps, conveyors and general machinery. A Sigma-5 (Σ-V) SERVOPACK amplifier such as the SGDV series closes the position, speed and torque loop around a permanent-magnet servomotor such as the SGMJV or SGMGV series, which is what controlled motion axes need. Order codes inside one family differ by voltage class, rated current and command interface, and the same rating can appear under more than one suffix.
