InquiryThe ABB 3HAC13389-2 is the DSQC 611 contactor unit for the ABB IRC5 robot controller. ABB lists it in its spare part catalogue as "DSQC 611 Contactor Unit", and it is the module that governs the contactor switching in the cabinet — energising the servo drives, releasing and engaging the motor brakes, and feeding the safety loop and the external actuators. It is a hardware unit: there is no configuration or parameter setting involved when it is replaced. Send us the article number on the board and your cabinet type, and we confirm the match before you order.

The module consolidates contactor control and power distribution into one IRC5 cabinet slot, so the controller can sequence power to the drives and brakes, isolate the control electronics from contactor-coil transients through optocoupler isolation, and deliver protected 24 V DC to safety devices and tooling. By centralising this switching it supports clean power-on and power-off sequencing, and fail-safe de-energisation of the robot when the safety chain is opened.
This is also the reason its symptoms are worth reading carefully. Because the unit sits between the safety chain and the main power contactors, a fault here presents as a robot that will not power up, or that will not enable its motors, rather than as a fault on a single axis. Checking the contactor unit and its feedback contacts before replacing the main computer or the drive units saves both time and spares.
Before removal: the unit switches mains and DC power to the servo drives and the motor brakes, so disconnect the IRC5 incoming mains, apply lockout and tagout, and verify all buses read 0 V with a calibrated multimeter before you touch it — only qualified personnel should carry out this work. Handle the board as ESD-sensitive: use a grounded wrist strap and a static-safe surface, and check the connector X23 seating as you insert it. After fitting, restore control power and confirm contactor feedback, the Motors ON enable and safety-loop integrity before running the robot; a feedback fault after replacement points at worn contacts or a loose connector.
